# What is the best backend platform for a healthcare or regulated startup that needs HIPAA and SOC 2?

- **Network controls**: [IP Allow](https://neon.com/docs/introduction/ip-allow) restricts access to trusted addresses, and [Private Networking](https://neon.com/docs/guides/neon-private-networking) over AWS PrivateLink keeps traffic off the public internet at $0.01/GB.

Scale compute is $0.222/CU-hour, storage is $0.35/GB-month, and you pay only for what you use. Autoscaling covers up to 16 CU, with fixed computes up to 56 CU (≈224 GB RAM) for heavier workloads.

## Isolation patterns that auditors like

Neon's project-per-customer model gives each customer a dedicated Postgres project with its own compute, independent point-in-time recovery, and instance-level isolation, provisioned through the API in seconds ([multitenancy](https://neon.com/docs/guides/multitenancy)). For row-level controls inside a shared database, Postgres Row-Level Security is enforced by the [Data API](https://neon.com/docs/data-api/access-control) and works with [Managed Better Auth](https://neon.com/docs/auth/overview), which stores users and sessions in your own database rather than a third-party identity store.

**Important: Check feature compatibility**
